A journalist of over 25 years standing, I write on a range of subjects --- foreign policy and climate urgency, space, science and technology and gender issues. Most importantly, however, I like to report on people, the cast of all our stories. Their triumphs and defeats, or simply, about a slice of their lives. This quest has taken me to report on the trial of Ajmal Kasab, the trauma faced by Nirbhaya's family and the despair of the families of the convicts. I have written about the last Sikhs clutching onto an old way of life in Kabul, and about the Granthi of an ancient gurdwara in Kathmandu keeping alive a unique syncretic practice. I travel across the country, even overseas, looking for untold stories to tell about people, specially those who are in some manner, part of a bigger news story.
I began my career in the newsroom of The Times of India Mumbai. I have worked in Kochi and Chennai, too. Since the last 15 years, I'm with The Week magazine. I am a recipient of the Chevening Young Journalists' Fellowship as well as the winner of the Mumbai Press Club's award for Excellence in Journalism.
