National Media Workshop on Measles, Rubella and Routine Immunization supported by UNICEF and SAWM

India seems to be on the verge of yet another viral epidemic, Measles and Rubella which is affecting children under the age of five years. The disease seems to have changed its pattern as it is developing pneumonia in the first week of the infection instead of the third week, officials said. Also, while the disease was mostly reported in January, last year the outbreak was reported in October. The authorities are now planning to hold a Sero survey to estimate the level of antibodies amongst children. However, the idea is still in its preliminary stage.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) held a two days media workshop from 16th to 17th December, 2022 in Mumbai in association with UNICEF and South Asian Women in Media (SAWM) to make journalists aware about the latest trends in the disease and to create awareness amongst people.
